    Illegal Arrested for Drunken Driving Released

    -- Jorge Montiel, 30, of South Avenue, was arrested Thursday night for driving while intoxicated when police stopped him on North Pearl Street after reportedly observing him operating an SUV without its headlights activated. He was also cited for failing to use headlights, failing to wear a seat belt, driving while unlicensed and reckless driving.

    Montiel admitted to police he is in the country illegally, according to police, and federal immigration officials were notified of his arrest on the drunken driving charge. He was, however, released on his own recognizance.

    WHY?! UNDER WHO'S AUTHORITY WAS THIS ILLEGAL ALIEN SOT ALLOWED TO BE RELEASED?!
