Alaska has about 10,000 illegal aliens, according to the Federation for American Immigration Reform. This accounts for approximately 1.4 percent of the state’s total population.

StateMaster.com reported that Alaska has the second lowest population of undocumented immigrants, tied with the District of Columbia and Louisiana.

Alaska has been affected by few illegal immigrants from Canada. The Pew Hispanic Center reported that the United States is home to about 600,000 undocumented immigrants from Europe and Canada, accounting for six percent of the illegal population.

On the opposite side of Alaska, the 55 mile spread between the state and Russia also makes for a prime way for illegal immigrants to get into the United States, Russian Cities Today reported.

The federal government has also been using Alaska as a place to foster illegal immigrant children, according to The Washington Post. Minors have been flown from the border to Hawaii and Alaska with taxpayers’ money to foster families in these states.

Additionally, while illegal immigrants are not permitted to work in the United States, some have found a way around it by stealing the identity of other individuals. The Associated Press reported that a police officer was found to be an illegal immigrant who had stolen the identity of another individual.

The effect of immigration is shown specifically in Anchorage, Alaska, where more than 90 languages are spoken within the public school district, Alaska Pride reported.

Oh my God, that's just outrageous. Our stupid government has created a disaster of monumental proportion.

How safe do you feel today? When a stolen ID is good enough to secure a policeman's employment, law enforcement needs overhauling from top to bottom, from President and AG to neighborhood patrolmen.

So typical of Americans to fear what they voted for. Or is it fear who they voted for? Voting differently 25 years ago could have made a big difference. Voting differently in'14 may have made a bit of difference. Now we all must accept the consequences.
