I know that a big part of the problem is that some planning to cross just don't believe what they are being told by others already here which is not to come because jobs are becoming scarce and benefits are being yanked.

Not too long ago, we saw a perfect example of it. We know of one family, who is here legally, who were imposed upon by other relatives who came in illegally. The family had told them not to bother coming....there would be no jobs, no welfare, no nothing.

They came anyway, convinced they would get all of those things. The women were sent down to DES to apply for benefits, presumably as single mothers, the men set out looking for work. Within a week they had packed up and gone back to Mexico because none of the guys had found work, and the attempt at welfare fraud didn't pan out either because they couldn't prove they were legally here.

They were absolutely shocked, but that was the end of it and they left, regretting the day they hadn't listened to their relatives.

It's unrealistic to think we'll see it all come to a stop immediately....these people have had too many years of everything going their way here that it's going to take some time for them to realize that it's done and over with, and we're still going to have plenty who are going to try and come in to get what they feel is owed them before the door is slammed and locked.

But, eventually, the turn around is going to be dramatic.
