HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. — Federal immigration agents have taken custody of a Lady's Island woman who investigators say faked a quintuple pregnancy to trick people out of more than $1,000 in cash and gifts.

Nancy Cantu pleaded guilty last week to obtaining goods under false pretenses. The Island Packet of Hilton Head Island reported the woman's name is really Erika Nieves-Abrigo.

Beaufort County jail director Phil Foot says she was released on the fraud plea based on time served and handed over to Immigrations and Customs Enforcement agents. Foot says she was taken to a facility in Charleston where she will be held during immigration proceedings, which could result in her being deported to Mexico.

Cantu and Juan Salvador Solis said they were pregnant with quintuplets in December and received gifts and donations. Solis is awaiting trial.

It makes me sick that illegal aliens have several names to fall back on if they are caught committing a crime. It seems to be a trend. Dont any of them have any conscience at all? They always either flee back to Mexico or else whip out a new id. No wonder some people feel as though they are being profiled. Some illegal alien Hispanics have created suspicion and havoc for all the legal ones.

Exactly and then you wonder how on earth there could be any honest background check or anything when you have multiple identies to fall back on, and a home country to run home to when things get tough.

I don't think they have a conscience at all.....name of the game is get what you want and then laugh your way to the bank at all the stupid fools who wanted to help.

We've had things like coat drives and shoe drives and things for school supplies and people just line up to take them whether they need them or not. Like it's an entitlement and that's what Americans do. People have quit donating to alot of these things because it's not getting to the people who really need it and instead is getting scarfed up by people who just think it's a free for all. Heck, giving it away.....I'll take it and sell it at a garage sale or put it in a consignment shop or something and make some money off the deal.

They have totally distorted what it's there for.

And guaranteed probably half of these items end up being shipped to countries like Guatemala, Honduras, etc., leaving American citizens in need without.
