Illegal Immigration Puts Republican Party At Risk?

I must say that the outcome of this past Presidential election was not a surprise to me, but I am surprised at the (opened arms attitude) that our President has taken towards illegal immigrants. As a Conservative voter, writer, Christian, and law abiding citizen, I expect that there will be consequences for the Republican Party if there has been no serious work done to secure our borders come next election.

Since I have spent 20 years out of the last 22 years in Arizona (10 in Tucson), I dare say that I speak from experience.

Mr. President: It’s high time that you do your job. Not only for me and my family, but for the rest of the U.S., and please don’t forget the Republican Party.

There is no doubt that illegal immigration is hurting this country. Many politicians would have the borders wide open and welcome those who don’t have a right to be in our country, and not worry about (terror suspects) or other wanted persons getting into America. That can’t be tolerated anymore!

As a matter of fact, there are some states that have now taken it upon themselves to decide on the issue of College Educations for illegal immigrants. Why should we pay for their education if they are here unlawfully.

Our borders need to be CLOSED to all who don’t have a right to be here.

We need to give the “Minutemen in Arizona three cheers and a big pat on the back. They have proven in one month what Congress and our president (for the most part) have been in denial about. Some in Congress, and Mr. Bush have taken on this attitude that we need illegals to do the work that Americans won’t. That’s just pure hogwash! From my personal experience, Americans will choose NOT to work aside of illegals if other opportunities are available. Why? Think of the consequences one may face if they knowingly work along side an illegal and don’t turn them in. Would that not make them an accessory? Well then, you say why wouldn’t the Americans just turn the illegals in? Why should they, they would probably lose their jobs. Can’t afford that at five something an hour. Hardly a living wage by any countries standards.

Yes Mr. Bush, it’s high time you get the team together and get something done. And sending the new federal Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff to Arizona this week to tour the Mexican Border area, and a visit with Arizona officials is just not enough. Chertoff should be meeting with the “Minutemen. They are the folks who really know what is going on. Skip the Border Patrol, they work for the government. They’ll give Chertoff any answer that they think he wants to hear.

Okay, I’m not badmouthing the folks who are on active duty with the Border Patrol. You know who I am directing this editorial at, the Administrative Section,(not the Patrol Agents), because they can only do the job that their superiors will allow them to do.

Lets hope that the President can get the job done, AND SOON!
