Just as we hear about the Mexican drunk and/or hit and run drivers in the United States, it is the same story there. They just bring those bad habits here with them.
After all the bad things that have to American and Canadian tourists lately, nobody should be vacationing there.

Canuck dies in MexicoWife badly hurt in hit-run
By KATE DUBINSKI, SUN MEDIA

A London, Ont., man is dead and his wife seriously injured after they were struck by an apparent hit-and-run driver while vacationing in Mexico.

Cliff Glasier, 67, originally of the Chatham area, was killed Wednesday in Ajijic, Mexico.

Glasier's wife, Janette Lerch, 54, had two surgeries yesterday in a private hospital in Guadalajara, Mexico.

Glasier and Lerch arrived in Mexico Jan. 2 with two couples from Grand Bend and planned to stay in a rented condo for three months.

"We all went to dinner, and they were walking home to the condos. They're good walkers, and they love to walk," Helen Berlinguette, staying in the condo next to the London couple's, said last night from Ajijic.

"We were all just out for dinner, and we had the best time. We were dancing, having a good time," she said. "The place where it happened, they were at a crossing in the road and a car must have gone through the red light," Berlinguette said, adding the crossing was only steps from the couple's condo.

Glasier, who has two grown sons, was killed and Lerch remains in hospital with injuries to her shoulders, leg and pelvis, Berlinguette said.

It was the latest in a string of Canadian deaths in Mexico.

Barely two weeks ago, Woodbridge teen Adam DePrisco was killed outside a nightclub in Acapulco under circumstances that remain unclear.

Foreign Affairs spokesman Alain Cacchione said last night Canadian officials have been in touch with the Lerch and Glasier families. He said consular officials met with Mexican authorities to "emphasize the need for a quick and thorough investigation."
