A man charged with killing an 18-year-old UNC Charlotte student in a wreck on Interstate 485 has been sent back to Mexico 17 times, officials said Monday.
Jorge Hernandez -- who also goes by Jorge Soto -- has been deported from Tucson, Ariz., twice and from El Paso, Texas, once. The 35-year-old has been voluntarily returned to Mexico 14 times after being caught within miles of the border, said Jeff Jordan, assistant special agent in charge of North Carolina for the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency.
"We have no idea how he's getting back in" the country, Jordan said.
The man gave his name as Jorge Hernandez and told the Observer he was from Pamplico, S.C. He said he had drunk six beers before the accident, which occurred about 12:40 a.m. Friday.
He was headed north in the southbound lanes of I-485, going faster than 100 miles an hour when he crashed into a blue Nissan 350z driven by Min Chang, troopers said. Chang's funeral was Monday morning.

Seventeen times! And they still don't know how he slithers back in? I suppose they really thought he's stay in Mexico last time he was deported? This is a a prime example of how anybody can cross the sw border.

One more good argument for a fence. These people just walk across the border. I'm telling you. There is absolutely nothing out here for miles and miles to stop them
Yes, there are balloons taking pictures, yes there are border patrols, yes there are markers that say "don't cross the border." But none of those things do a bit of good. The surveillence balloons and drones take time to send back the information. By the time anyone who could possibly do anything about an illegal crosser reaches the scene, the illegal is long gone. The border patrol isn't like God--omnipotent. They can't see places where they aren't present and they can't be present everywhere at all times.
Unless we fence in that border and man the fence with enough watchers to prohibit illegal crossings, we may as well resign ourselves to the fact that people will cross at will. In fact, we might as well start learning Spanish.Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)

Well GOL-LY! I just can't imagine how he would keep "getting back into the country."

That was where I heard it, COI. I just nearly FELL OUT OF THE BED when they said this lowlife had been deported SEVENTEEN TIMES. This should be the wakeup call that is needed to get ACTION. BUT, sadly, there have been SO MANY wakeup calls and they haven't produced any action so why should I think this one will be any different???
JJ--I also saw a segment on Lou Dobbs last night about the FENCE. It showed how the illegals had created different types of ladders to get across. The one that they felt worked best was an aluminum and rope variety that was easily thrown across the fence and then they could just carry it away. They are going to HAVE to put electricity or barbed or razor wire on the top of the fence or they will be climbing over just like it wasn't there."POWER TENDS TO CORRUPT AND ABSOLUTE POWER CORRUPTS ABSOLUTELY." Unfortunately, just a fence won't be enough. We need our military guarding our border. It's a damn shame, isn't it?
