Immigrant advocates say 14 arrested in Vermont hotel raid
Immigrant advocates say 14 arrested in Vermont hotel raid
BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) — A Vermont immigrant advocacy group says federal agents arrested 14 construction workers at a Colchester hotel.
The group Migrant Justice says the raid last Thursday was the largest action of its kind in Vermont in recent memory by agents of Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
Migrant Justice Spokesman Will Lambek says the workers, from Central America and the Caribbean, were part of a construction crew. He declined to name the company that employed the workers.
The Burlington Free Press reports that court documents show ICE pursued the workers after receiving information about a work crew of people who did not have authorization to be in the United States.
ICE spokesman Shawn Neudauer said he could not respond to questions because of the government shutdown.

Beautiful news!!!!!
Construction jobs are high paying...I am sure they could have gotten AMERICANS to do it!!!!The difference between an immigrant and an illegal alien is the equivalent of the difference between a burglar and a houseguest. Absolutely; Americans did do and will do again if ICE will step up it’s interior enforcement. Millions of illegal aliens work for small construction businesses, particularly in the framing industry. Many are operating their own companies , alongside their DACA and anchor baby kids , making the businesses legally registered through their offspring. They undercut Americans wages mightily , as many don’t take taxes out and give 1099 forms to their illegal alien employees working with fraudulent social security numbers. We need nationwide enforcement of the construction industry to bring these jobs back to the Americans who need them !

Perfect! It looks like ICE is truly acting on tips of the public about illegals in our midst! This is encouraging to me, if and when I start seeing ICE units here in NC I'll be doing my happy dance
