    Federal officials have arrested 27 people on charges of migrant-smuggling, accusing them of bringing 500 to 1,000 illegal immigrants a month into the United States and charging them $1,500 to $2,500 for the journey.

    A two-count federal indictment accuses the people of conspiracy to transport and harbor illegal aliens and conspiracy to launder money, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.

    Arrests were made Wednesday at multiple locations, including in Dallas, Garland and Mesquite.

    Federal agents seized $40,000 to $50,000 from bank accounts and safe-deposit boxes.

    The arrests are part of a two-year investigation into a smuggling ring operating in North Texas, authorities said.

    I have already sent this story to Sen Kyl, Wyden and Schumer--all on the Senate Judiciary Committee. This is the kind of thing that should be heard before their subcommittees---not just the inane c==p of Greeenspan, etc.
