The story about a meeting of Casa Freehold detailed the group's many "wants" but never addressed what these people are willing to give or do to be welcomed in the United States. ("Group spells out goals for immigration reform," July 16.)

They quickly glossed over the fact most immigrants who are making these demands are here illegally. As such, they all should be made to return to their own country and then follow the legal requirements to return, if theystill want to be residents of the U.S.

I am tired of the catering to these illegals who think there is nothing wrong about what they have done to get here and in what they are demanding our elected officials to do for them. If an American had crossed illegally into any of the Central or South American countries, that American would be in prison, if not worse. Those countries do not stand for this nonsense. Our elected officials in Washington must stop overlooking the immigration laws and enforce them.

The proposed immigration reform being batted back-and-forth in Congress will not improve anything. It will exacerbate a bad situation.

Any elected official — federal, state or local — who condones all this illegality should be removed from office and forfeit their pay and percs, such as pensions and hospitalization plans, because they are telling illegal immigrants not to worry about the laws because "we will change them to suit you."
