Immigration Rally Draws Both Sides
(CBS 11 News) "Yesterday we marched. Today we vote!"

That was the theme of Saturday’s Latino voter registration rally in Dallas.

Latino leaders, activists and several organizations have united to hold voter registration drives in hopes of registering more than 2,000 new voters before Election Day.

"Until we begin to vote in large numbers, we will not be listened to,” explained Diana Flores, a
Dallas Community College trustee.

“We will not be respected in terms of what the majority of our community wants with regards to immigrants, education, tax laws, etc. etc.")

There also was a small protest by a group called Americans Against Illegal Migration who opposed the rally.

Those participants said they want stronger immigration laws.
