Iraqi family caught in Texas crossing border illegally
Jan 30, 2007
HARLINGEN, Texas Customs officials in South Texas say an Iraqi family was caught within miles of the Rio Grande after crossing the border illegally.
The family of five was detained Saturday night near U-S Highway 281 in Pharr.
Border Patrol spokesman Oscar Saldana says computer searches revealed no ties to terrorism.
Saldana says the family remains in Customs and Immigration Enforcement custody while being processed for deportation.
Saldana confirmed the capture after an anonymous tip was phoned in to the Valley Morning Star newspaper.
He said he could not disclose whether there had been similar apprehensions of Iraqi nationals within the sector.
He also could not say whether the family claimed they were in the U-S for religious reasons, as did eleven Iraqis caught with illegal passports last week in northern Mexico.Support our FIGHT AGAINST illegal immigration & Amnesty by joining our E-mail Alerts at https://eepurl.com/cktGTn

Bush's war isn't on Iraq, it is on America. How can he possibly keep a straight face and tell us that we're winning the war on terror when our own citizens are being terrorized by illegals? Bush is not only a disgrace to America, he is a disgrace to the whole world.

Sean Mattson: Report: 11 Iraqis detained at Monterrey airport
MONTERREY, Mexico -- Eleven Iraqis were detained with false passports at the Monterrey International Airport, according to a report by local newspaper El Norte.
Citing anonymous sources, but publishing what is presumably a photo of the family that was detained — including a two-year-old — the report says they were Catholics fleeing the war in Iraq.
The Iraqis reportedly obtained false passports in Europe and were to meet a pollero, a human smuggler, in Monterrey. The were reportedly headed to Tijuana, where they would cross into the United States.
El Norte reported they will be sent to Mexico City for further investigation.
A person at the Mexican immigration authority's office in Saltillo confirmed that the Iraqis were sent to Mexico City last night.Illegal aliens remain exempt from American laws, while they DEMAND American rights...
