Two fugitives wanted by California and federal authorities in unrelated homicide cases were arrested by the FBI's Inland Regional Apprehension Team (IRAT) yesterday, announced Salvador Hernandez, Assistant Director in Charge of the FBI in Los Angeles.

David Ramon Cimental,18, of Rialto, California, is wanted by the state of California in connection with the December 2005 murder of seventeen year old Jose Morales. On 2/2/06, Cimental was charged in San Bernardino County Superior Court with murder after an investigation was conducted by detectives with the San Bernardino Police Department. Within the past month, IRAT members determined that Cimental had fled from California and obtained a federal warrant in U.S. District Court, charging Cimental with Unlawful Flight to Avoid Prosecution (UFAP). Cimental was apprehended just outside San Luis Rio Colorado in the Mexican state of Sonora late yesterday afternoon. Cimental was deported by Mexican authorities and is currently in custody in Arizona, where he will await extradition to California.

Huber Segundo Pacheco, 22, is wanted for the October 2006 murder of Alberto Ponce Cervantes in Perris, California. An arrest warrant was issued for Pacheco in Riverside County in December 2006 in connection with the murder. On 12/27/2006, a warrant charging Pacheco federally with Unlawful Flight to Avoid Prosecution (UFAP) was obtained in U.S. District Court in Riverside, California by the IRAT. A provisional arrest warrant was issued in Mexico on May 29, 2007 based on a request from the Riverside County District Attorney to the U.S. Department of Justice in Washington, D.C. Pacheco, a Mexican national who had been residing in the United States illegally at the time of the alleged murder, was apprehended yesterday afternoon in San Luis Rio Colorado, in the Mexican State of Sonora, and remained in the custody of the Mexican Federal Police (AFI). AFI will transfer Pacheco to Mexico City where he will await extradition proceedings.

The successful investigation that led to the arrest of Cimental and Pacheco is the result of a joint investigation by the Inland Regional Apprehension Team, comprised of agents and officers with the FBI, Riverside Police Department, Riverside County Sheriff's Department, and San Bernardino Police Department.
