Jeff Sessions: DACA Deal ‘Last Real Opportunity’ to Enact Immigration Agenda That ‘Serves National Interest’

Attorney General Jeff Sessions says striking a deal on the issue of the President Obama-created Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program could be the “last real opportunity” for Americans to see a legal immigration system that works in their interests, rather than against them.

In an interview with Fox News’ Maria Bartiromo, Sessions said the White House-backed immigration plan that business-first Republicans and Democrats blocked was a missed chance for Americans to see relief in an immigration system that would have eventually ended the mass importation of more than one million mostly low-skilled foreign workers every year. Sessions said:

"Look, this is an opportunity for the American people, maybe our last real opportunity, to create an immigration system that’s lawful, that ends the lawlessness, the illegality, and serves the national interest. … President Trump’s plan is strong, the Grassley bill included that pretty effectively, it’s the kind of legislation I think could work, that I supported. And it didn’t pass.” [Emphasis added]

"But, I got to say, we have got to talk about this as a nation. We need … President Trump’s plan calls for ending the illegality, having real enforcement with a border wall, it calls for a merit-based system, instead of the chain migration, it calls for ending the Visa Lottery, which is a ridiculous policy and always has been. … Why we can’t get that done baffles me. And I think it’s … the American people are there and we cannot stop, we have got to get this done.” [Emphasis added]

Sen. Chuck Grassley’s (R-IA) immigration plan—blocked by Democrats and a number of Republicans—mirrored the White House’s immigration framework in that it down-the-road ended the process of “chain migration,” ended the Diversity Visa Lottery program, and funded a border wall along the U.S.-Mexico border.

Chain migration, as Breitbart News has extensively reported, has imported more than 9 million legal immigrants to the U.S. for no other reason than to reunite with their foreign relatives. Chain migration allows newly naturalized citizens to bring an unlimited number of foreign relatives to the country.

I saw clips of that interview but missed the entire interview. Thanks for posting that article, Jean. I disagree with Jeff Sessions. I think we have to push for no amnesty, no legalization, not ever again. It's not fair to American Citizens and Legal Immigrants who abide our rules and laws. It also violates the 14th Amendment and the US Civil Rights Act of 1964. I hope Jeff Sessions puts his lawyer hat on soon and sees that under our laws and Constitution, you can not force any person, legal or not, of age or a minor, into childbirth against their will, nor can any branch of the US government, Executive, Congress or Courts, give amnesty or legalization to illegal aliens. You can't do things like that under our laws and Constitution. PERIOD.

I want to see this video because this sounds like a bunch of hoey coming out of Jeff Sessions.

We already have immigration laws...now ENFORCE them!

No more laws for you to break.

Deport all illegal aliens and visa overstays.

No more TPS...start terminating these programs and loopholes one by one.

And get illegal aliens out of our schools. No student visa...NO school. Billions of taxpayer dollars spent on illegal aliens.

OUR money that should be spent rebuilding schools, retrofitting them with security doors and measures, giving teachers a raise, money for school supplies and relieving our overcrowded schools of ILLEGAL ALIENS who should not be on our soil let alone in our schools. Use that money to secure our schools.

Is he speaking of illegals, who would benefit, or American Citizens who would lose?

No! We already have an immigration system that is "lawful" and would end the lawlessness. We just need law enforcement to enforce the laws we have.

We just had a school shooting the left 17 dead. We now have students protesting, saying we need more laws. What we have found is that people notified the FBI, as they were encouraged to do. We have laws that, if enforced, should have prevented this 19 year old, with documented mental issues, from purchasing and having a firearm. But the FBI didn't follow its legal procedures. And the weapons background check did not prevent him from purchasing a weapon. In a private company, the employee(s) would be fired. And the company could be sued. But government is immune, and at best, the employee(s) who failed to follow procedure would be reassigned, but keep their jobs.

For those students who are protesting, if they got their way, and law enforcement enforced all the laws, their illegal alien friends would be rounded up and deported, and they would be screaming about that!

In this Florida school, several politicos immediately said we need the tear down that building. WHY? Unless the structure has become unstable, that is a waste of money. They can re-purpose that building as a storage facility, an administration office or a number of other uses, at least for a period of time. To tear it down would mean money they claim they don't have. Then to build a replacement, more money they don't have. If we bow to that stupidity, every road or intersection where a child is killed would be closed forever. Every swimming pool where a child drowned would have to be closed and torn up. Every house or building where a child is killed would have to be bulldozed. That area where all those concert-goers were gunned down in Las Vegas, must be closed forever. That hotel where the bullets originated from must be torn down.

Death is something we all experience and should be something we learn to deal with.

They should not tear down that building. Send in a team to give it a makeover with cheerful colors and rename it.

If they want...build a meditation room for all to have some quiet time.

You do not get a new building and a free puppy because something tragic happened.

How about San Francisco demolishes the entire Pier where Kate Steinle was murdered by and ILLEGAL ALIEN!

I saw not one Democrat or anyone have a "lie in" for her death. The Demo quacks are turning our youth into sniveling cry babies. What happened was tragic...we learn from the breakdown of communication and move on and do our best to prevent this happening again.

I looked at the film clip. Now it is obvious why Hillary Clinton is running around without fear of being held to account for her criminal behavior. Why, when it was established that the IRS was guilty of illegally harassing conservative groups, nobody was punished, nobody went to jail, nobody was even fired. For whatever reasons, it appears Jeff Sessions has become part of the swamp, if in fact he ever was not part of it.

Trump and now Sessions, is there any politician who is on our side? That makes two more faces I can’t stand looking at anymore.
