Juárez attack leaves prison guard dead, others wounded

A guard was killed and three others wounded during a shootout when an armed group attacked a prison van Wednesday morning in Juárez, state officials said.

Officials said the van was transporting guards who had finished their work shift at the state Cereso prison when it was hit by gunfire near the intersection of Avenida Granjas and Veracruz street. The guards returned fired at the assailants.

During the shooting, three guards were wounded and one was killed. The guard who died was identified as Yair Feliciano Reyes Martinez, 29. The wounded guards were hospitalized in stable condition.
