KY-High School Graduate Facing Immigration Charge
High School Graduate Facing Immigration Charge
POSTED: 8:40 am EDT March 26, 2010
LEXINGTON, Ky. -- Immigration officials say a 2009 graduate of Franklin County High School is awaiting deportation to his native Honduras after being arrested on a federal charge of being an immigration fugitive.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement says 19-year-old Julio Cesar Martinez-Delgado is in its custody. It was unclear where Martinez-Delgado was being held.
The State Journal in Frankfort reported Thursday that Martinez-Delgado was arrested March 17 at Amazon.com in Lexington, where he worked.
Gail Montenegro, spokeswoman for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement in Chicago, says several attempts had been made to locate Martinez-Delgado, including a vehicle stop in which the suspect fled on foot.
Montenegro says immigration fugitives are illegal aliens with outstanding deportation orders.
