Over three thousand Mexicans have been killed yearly by the drug cartels. Untold numbers have been killed by coyotes, kidnapped and/or tortured.

Not a peep out of the Mexican nationals.

Yet, here they go on a rampage over a day laborer who most likely deserved to be shot.

Police said the man was armed with a knife and that officers had been flagged down by a pedestrian who alerted them to a man with a knife.

The protesters who gathered Sunday, however, said the man was unarmed and had been killed for no reason. Police have not formally identified the man, but friends indentified him as Manuel Jamines, a day laborer from Guatemala.
If they would return home, they would not be subject to our laws and certainly Guatemala would allow him to travel around with an exposed knife.

Perhaps these rioters have seen the movie Machete and are part of "The Network" mentioned in the film?

Illegal aliens need to pack their gear including their knives and machetes and head home. If they want to get their panties in a bunch over a police shooting, then they should run for their lives now, today, because Americans ARE going to demand state and local police enforce US immigration law.

L.A. police, residents face off over police killing of Guatemalan
Officers stand watch in Westlake neighborhood the day after police shot a man they said was wielding a knife and not obeying their orders
By Robert J. Lopez, Los Angeles Times

    September 7, 2010

Tensions flared Monday in the immigrant neighborhood of Westlake as dozens of protesters and Los Angeles police faced off at the site where a day laborer was fatally shot by police a day earlier.

The angry crowd gathered at 6th Street and Union Avenue, a bustling corner where Los Angeles Police Department officers said they were confronted Sunday by a knife-wielding man who refused commands to drop his weapon.

The protesters used a bullhorn to shout in Spanish — "Assassination!" "Assassination!" and "We want justice!" — as they marched along 6th to the Los Angeles Police Department's Rampart station. Onlookers watched from their apartment windows, while others joined the procession as LAPD officers monitored the action from nearby corners and adjacent streets.

At one point, police in riot gear faced off with a shouting throng near a series of memorials hung from a fence by the sidewalk where the man was killed on 6th Street. He was identified by friends as Manuel Jamines, 37, a Guatemalan immigrant who came to Los Angeles seven years ago.

"He was not a criminal," said Juan Velasquez, who said he is from the same village as Jamines.

Julio Martinez, 57, said he was walking along 6th on Sunday when he saw officers from the LAPD's bicycle unit fire their weapons at Jamines, who was not armed, according to Martinez.

"I did not see a knife in his hands," Martinez said, adding that he heard two gunshots.

LAPD Capt. Rigo Romero said officers recovered a knife from the scene and that detectives were investigating the killing.

"Our investigation is going to be transparent," he said. "We take every force investigation very, very seriously."

At one point, protesters got into a shouting and shoving match with a store security guard, who fled to his car and sped away as people hurled objects and kicked at his vehicle.

As the crowd gathered at the corner, Guatemalan Consul General Pablo Garcia Saenz arrived to ask that people protest peacefully and assure them that his staff was in contact with the LAPD. His assistants said that a community meeting was planned for 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Guatemalan Consulate.

"We do not want any more violence," Saenz told the crowd in Spanish.

Protest over fatal shooting by LAPD turns violent

LOS ANGELES – A protest over the fatal police shooting of a Guatemalan immigrant turned violent when some demonstrators threw bottles at officers, set trash cans on fire and refused to disperse.

Television news footage showed people tossing the bottles and plastic crates at officers in riot gear late Monday near MacArthur Park, a neighborhood with a large Central American population west of downtown.

Police declared the protest an unlawful assembly around 10 p.m. and ordered the dozens of protesters to disperse. The majority of the crowd cleared out, but a small number lingered and caused trouble, police spokesman Gregory Baek said.

Police made a couple of arrests, Baek said. He said police won't have a final tally until they complete the booking process for the suspects.

The protest began in the afternoon with demonstrators marching back and forth between a bustling shopping area where the shooting occurred and the Rampart police station three blocks away.

Police said three bicycle officers were patrolling the area Sunday when someone flagged them down and said a man was threatening passers-by with a knife.

When officers confronted the man, they ordered him to drop the knife but he refused, Lt. Andrew Neiman said.

"Instead, he came after the officers with a knife raised in the air, leading one of the officers to fire at the suspect," Neiman said.

Authorities have not released the man's name. However, friends identified him as Manuel Jamines, 37, a construction worker and father of three.

Protesters contend the man was not dangerous and say officers should have used a non-lethal weapon to subdue him.

"When you're trying to stop a suspect or stop a deadly action, the purpose is to stop the threat as quickly as possible," Neiman said.

MacArthur Park was the site of a May 1, 2007, clash, where police officers pummeled immigration rights marchers and reporters with batons and shot rubber bullets into the crowd. Dozens of protesters and journalists were injured as officers cleared the park.

The embarrassing incident cost the city more than $13 million in lawsuit settlements. Police were retrained on crowd control, forming skirmish lines, using batons in a crowd and using extraction teams to identify and arrest violent demonstrators.

Why is the Guatemalan Consul General consulting with LAPD to quash a local riot? This is indicative if how out of control the illegal invasion situation is in Los Angeles!

    This is nuts!
