Racist Groups Exploit Immigration Issues in Effort to Promote Anti-Hispanic Agenda, Says Anti-Defamation League

NEW YORK, June 15 /U.S. Newswire/ -- With mounting public awareness and concern over illegal immigration in America, the issue is being co-opted and exploited by anti-{invasion}immigration activists, some of whom are reaching out to racist and anti-Semitic hate groups, according to the Anti-Defamation League (ADL). The rhetoric of these activists is largely aimed at Mexicans, not other illegal aliens, and frequently does not distinguish between Mexicans and Mexican-Americans.

In the most recent effort by radical anti-immigration organizations and individuals to exploit mainstream immigration concerns, a three-day summit to "Unite to Fight Against Illegal Immigration" was held in Las Vegas, Nev., May 27 to May 29. More than 400 people gathered to hear speakers describe illegal immigrants as "the enemy within" and "illegal barbarians," while suggesting that America was "at war" with illegal immigrants and calling for the need to "take America back." {and that is bad because?}

"These groups are hiding behind the mask of illegal immigration when their real concern is the growing Mexican-American population," said Abraham H. Foxman, ADL national director. "While there are legitimate concerns for America regarding illegal immigration, the fact that border vigilantes, and in some instances racist and anti-Semitic hate groups, are exploiting these concerns to promote an anti-Hispanic agenda is very troubling." {we don't have any problems with Mexican Americans and Hispanics, we just have a problem with Mexican invaders and invaders of all races}

Organized by Mark Edwards, a local talk radio host and his "Wake Up America Foundation," a new anti-{invasion}immigrant group, and promoted by Team America, an anti-{invasion}immigration PAC founded by Colorado Congressman Tom Tancredo, the Las Vegas rally was held as a follow-up on the perceived success of the so-called "Minuteman Project," which organized vigilante patrols of the U.S.-Arizona border in April. The project attracted a number of white supremacists {which is a lie}. At the rally, Minuteman Project co-founder Jim Gilchrist claimed his group wasn't racist, but referred to immigrants as the "Mexican Klan" and "Mexican Nazis." {funny I don't ever recall him saying that}

In the weeks leading up to the event, the virulently anti-Semitic and neo-Nazi National Alliance circulated fliers throughout southern Arizona describing illegal immigration as an "invasion" that would cause whites to become a minority. {Duh, that's already happening}

National Alliance spokesman Shaun Walker endorsed the project and a number of National Alliance members took part. Another white supremacist group, Aryan Nations, called the Minuteman Project, "a call for action on the part of ALL ARYAN SOLDIERS."

Meanwhile, some anti-immigration activists have been reaching out to unambiguous white supremacists. The recent "Protect Arizona Now" (PAN) initiative, an anti-immigration ballot initiative that recently passed in Arizona, was spearheaded by a group led by Virginia Abernethy, an unabashed "white supremacist" associated with the racist publication, "The Occidental Quarterly." {funny how they think anyone linked to being anti invasion is a white supremist, but yet what do they have to say about Latinos who are legal and oppose this garbage?}

As part of a nationwide effort to replicate PAN, Arkansas anti-immigration activists have created Protect Arkansas Now, led by Joe McCutchen, another person with strong ties to hate groups. In both instances, despite their ties to white supremacy having been exposed, Abernathy and McCutchen remained in their positions.

The Anti-Defamation League, founded in 1913, is the world's leading organization fighting anti-Semitism through programs and services that counteract hatred, prejudice and bigotry.

The anti-defamation league had better start looking at the anti-Israel, pro-radical Islamist stances of La Raza and other Hispanic groups. They will find that their interests are not served by the Hispanic and pro-illegal immigration groups.

I believe someone pointed out that Semites are also Caucasian. Therefore, the anti-Semite thing is a "religious" thing.

The Hispanic "thing" as we've all learned is a special class of people established by the Jimmy Carter Administration in 1974 based upon "language", "Spanish-speaking" to be exact to entitle Spanish-Speaking Americans to compete with Black Americans for "minority" status and become a protected class of citizen in the United States.

What either the Semite thing or the Hispanic thing have to do with illegal immigration is still evading me. Anyone with a "clue", please post the clarification should one exist.

Judy, I think calling the Mexicans Caucasions might be a stretch. I know in some analyses I have seen them referred to as "white" which would indicate a very broad definition of what "white" means.

I think this race crap is what people who have no logical argument always trot out to justify their position. It comes up over and over again by pro-illegal supporters.

Notice that organizations which do not have a legitimate cause anymore always invent one or glom onto one to justify their existence. My bet is that's what's happening here. I have not personally seen Jews being persecuted in this country to any extent, nor have I heard or read of anything of that sort.

By the way, in your list you left off NAMBLA. I think they are the only ones you failed to mention.

When will all the hateful Mexican groupies stop their moronic banter? Anti-immigration groups are not racist. Is it racist to be concerned that our culture, and we are of many, is being uprooted and replaced by another culture, that is here illegally in the first place?
Is it racist to be concerned about a country they we may lose? Is it racist to want to honor and cherish our history, as well as our language?
If you are going to play the 'race card', then ask yourself this: If we broke into your house and demanded food, money and shelter, would you be happy to give it to us, with no questions asked? Or would you be afraid of us, because we werent invited? This isnt about ADL, or the ACLU. Quit making it into a race issue, or you'll loose. No one is a minority anymore. We are all equal.

What a shame. The only talking points the ADL and the Southern Poverty Law Center has is lies. That a defamming good Americans who would be the first to stand against real discrimination. Mark Edwards has personally kicked to the curb anyone advocating discrimination, supremist ideas.
