06-29-2005, 02:20 AM #2The Gonzalez family came to the U.S. on a legal tourist visa more than a decade ago, hoping to provide a better life for their daughter Marie, then, five years old. They misunderstood the immigration laws by believing they could apply for residency after living in the U.S. for a period of time, but that option disappeared after a 1997 law was repealed.
Model citizens in some respects but no respect of immigration law.
If they get "pardoned," imagine how many more worms will crawl out of the woodwork with the same sob story.
Sure, it's a pity. But it would seem if they were truly pursuing matters properly, their immigration attorney would have been advising them and they wouldn't have "misunderstood."
I don't buy it.

Re: Latina Woman of the Year Spends Final Days Before Deport
Last year, Marie was named Latina Magazine's Woman of the Year largely due to her activism efforts on behalf of immigrant students. Marie has been a very public spokesperson for the DREAM Act, receiving national news coverage of her "graduation speech" at a mock graduation ceremony on the Capitol grounds last year. She had hoped to continue her education in America and become a lawyer.
GET THESE PEOPLE OUT TONIGHT!!
DREAM ACT = National Council of La Raza Agenda to end our Nation
ACTIVISM - Illegal alien working to end our Nation
GET THEM OUT NOW before they do any MORE damage to the American People.
WAY TO GO MISSOURI!! Stand Up!! Enforce the Law!! GO ICE!!
Living the American dream, the Gonzalez family owned and operated a Chinese restaurant in Jefferson City for many years. At one point, Marvin even worked for former Missouri Governor Bob Holden. They own a home and are active members of their church and community and contribute to the United States economy by paying state and payroll taxes.
TOO FUNNY!! Illegal Mexicans running an illegal Chinese Restaurant in the state capital of Missouri working for a Governor...."undetected". That took a lot of lying, alot of cheating, alot of falsifying....to do all that for 14 years unnoticed.
I feel safe, don't you??
