Lawrence police arrested and charged a nursing home worker with theft after setting up a video camera in a patient's room to see who was stealing money from patients.

Police installed a camera and two $20 bills in a room at the Berkeley Retirement Home and Nursing Center after a rash of thefts were reported there in June, according to the Lawrence Eagle Tribune.

On July 26, officers said, the camera caught Nerys Cordero, 36, of Summer Street in Lawrence, rummaging through the patients belongings. On Aug. 3, they said, they moved the camera and money and recorded Cordero taking the cash.

Authorities said Cordero admitted taking the money when she was confronted and they found $143 in her purse, according to the newspaper report. She was charged with four counts of larceny of a person over 65. The nursing home administrator said she was fired from her job.

I just saw on the news she is in NY spending time with family!!! Why is she not in jail? And she is a brazilian I believe, no status on immigration status in story of course. This is an outrage!
