Personally, I don't think the lady has a leg to stand on. Bottom line, the sitter declined care. How is that the responsibility of the EMS crew?

An ambulance chasing injury lawyer has obviously seen the potential for mega bucks and netted himself (or herself) a live one.
If they can get million dollar mortgages forgiven because they were in English, why not this

If the infant was that ill and the babysitter was only checking on him every 3 hours, it would seem that the babysitter is the one who is negligent and should be the object of the lawsuit. Anyone who is doing childcare for hire should be required to be competent and should at least have a basic understanding of English to deal with emergencies.
If the sitter was worried enough about the boy to call paramedics, she should have been worried enough to check on the boy more often than every 3 hours. You're right legal4mykidsfuture it's the sitter that should be sued and not the paramedics.

The article doesn't answer these questions. Was the babysitter a licensed day care provider? Was the babysitter providing illegal care by not following the laws of the state? Was she caring for other children from other families and if so how many?

If the babysitter was licensed she would have had first aid and cpr training. Nebraska law requires it and I'm sure other states do too.

Legality, not race. The race card is all they have. They hide behind it. They abuse the word racist to advance their political and economic will. This is the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

FIRST, THE MOTHER SHOULD HAVE COME HOME IF THE BABY WAS SICK. SECOND, SHE LEFT THE BABY WITH A PERSON THAT DID NOT SPEAK ENGLISH. THAT IS DANGEROUS. OBVIOUSLY IF THERE IS AN EMERGENCY THE BABYSITTER IS NOT GOING TO BE ABLE TO COMMUNICATE THE THE EMERGENCY PERSONNEL.

The mother is more than likely illegal. The babysitter can not speak English, I have my doubts as to whether or not she had a license to be in the country let alone care for children.

If all the players had been American citizens, the babysitter would probably been arrested and investigated for child abuse. This is the horrible double standards that arise out of the illegal issue. It's NEVER the fault of the illegals because they are considered poor, uneducated victims of a racist capitalist system.

Three months ago, she moved to a larger home in Elgin to accommodate the nurses who arrive in shifts to care for Osbiel 18 hours a day. The nurses are paid for through a state program, Lopez said.
