    Lookingglass woman challenges DeFazio

When no Republican candidate emerged before last month’s primary election to take on U.S. Rep. Peter DeFazio, it appeared the Springfield Democrat would win a 12th term without opposition.

However, Jaynee Germond, a Lookingglass resident and member of the Constitution Party of Oregon, has stepped forward to run against DeFazio.

A longtime Republican, Germond, 50, switched her affiliation over her disappointment with the two major parties.

    “We’ve got a so-called two-party system, which is kind of failing us,â€

The following from someone in OR but not in DeFazio's district...

    1. He has been one of the better Dems our citizens have elected in my fine state. While not perfect (is anyone?), he has been pretty good - at least for the issues we here care about - considering he's a Dem in a very blue state (well, for the most part). His ABI grade is an overall 'B'.

    2. Moving to Oregon 3 or 4 years ago and running on the 'we're tired of the same old'....probably won't be taken seriously here. The locals (I can say that, I am one...) don't like newcomers coming in and then lending their insights and criticisms as to what all is wrong here. It just doesn't go over well - the typical response would be: 'don't like it, leave!'.
Look for DeFazio to be re-elected handily.

Admittedly, Defazio is more a true Democrat than a Socialist like Obama, whom he endorsed, but "good"? Especially for immigration? Hardly. He talks big, but he will not vote for immigration reform. He refuses, for example, to sign Discharge Petition 1005 regarding the SAVE act forcing a house vote. Yes, he has a "B" grade from Americans for Immigration Reform. I, on the other hand have an "A" rating and am listed as a True Immigration Reform Candidate.

I did not complained of any state issues, rather my compaints are appropriately addressed to the federal level. Further, if you read my bio, I am married to a 4th generation Oregonian (and looking at your byline with Oregon pronounced "Ore-ee-gun" tells me you are not a native) and I understand the concerns and needs of Oregonians.

Defazio, in case you don't know, is a native from Massachusetts, one of the most liberal states in the Union. He came over here after graduating from college and immediately got into politics. He still receives a significant portion of his campaign funds from Massachusetts. Check it out at http://www.FEC.gov.

I am a true Constitutionalist and Oregon is ready for true change- back to the Constitution.

    happywife - welcome aboard!

A couple of points to address your concerns -

    1. Re: being 'native' or not... well, yes and no - but mostly 'yes'.
Although born in our neighbor to the north (WA), I moved to OR at age 6. Been here ever since (minus brief absences for grad school and a job).
The pronunciation outlined in my profile is to distinguish for those that come mostly from the east coast that inaccurately say 'R-E-GONE' WRONG!

    2. I appreciate the fact that you took the time and interest to register and join us. I really do hope you give DeFazio a good run in the election. Hey, more power to you! Good luck.

    Again, welcome aboard

    to alipac "happywife"

I wish you luck in the election and say throw all the bums out!! it is time for new blood and some patriotic Americans.

Ignore the party affiliation and vote for the person who will work for the people and if they do not keep their promises throw them out next election......just be care of the Senators you vote in, they get to long over stay their welcome sometimes, 6 years can seem an eternity when a traitor is working against us.
