Lou Dobbs Tonight

Tonight, Mexico is once again interfering with American
immigration policy. The Mexican Consulate is warning illegal
aliens to avoid the city of Irving, Texas. That's because
Irving is cracking down and actually enforcing its immigration
policy. We'll have that special report at 6 pm this evening.

The Senate Finance Committee held hearings today on the UN
Convention on the Law of the Sea. It’s a treaty signed in the
1980s, but never ratified under Reagan because of concerns it
limited our military’s ability to operate in the oceans and
impeded on U.S. sovereignty. Conservatives are urging the
Senate not to ratify this treaty now, saying it would put
management of 70 percent of the world’s surface in the hands of
an obscure UN agency. We’ll bring you a full report tonight.

We’ll also have a special report on the new wave of recalls of
dangerous toys manufactured in China due to lead contamination
and design flaws.

And while Congress is focusing on passing trade agreements like
Peru, a federal program that helps workers who have lost their
jobs to these trade deals is due to expire this weekend. Labor
groups and Democrats want the program to be expanded to
computer programmers, software engineers and other service
workers whose jobs have moved offshore. But they’re facing
resistance. Tune in tonight for that story.
