Lou Dobbs Tonight
Wednesday, March 12, 2008

Tonight, New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer has resigned over evidence
that he spent thousands of dollars on prostitutes and tried to
cover his tracks. We’ll have the latest details on what means
for New York and for our broken government. Plus:

* Yesterday, Boeing filed a formal protest over the Pentagon’s
decision to award a $35 billion aerial tanker contract to team
led by European consortium EADS. Boeing says it was misled
about the type of aircraft the military was seeking. Meanwhile,
the EADS team has revised its estimate of how many U.S. jobs
the contract will create.

* Western state attorneys general and Mexican attorneys general
are meeting in Phoenix this week to discuss human smuggling,
drug smuggling and other border security issues. We’ll have the
details, as the drug cartel crisis continues to escalate.

* The faltering U.S. economy continues to set new records—none
of them good. The price of oil is near $109 a barrel while the
dollar continued to fall. Now food costs are now rising as
well—reaching their highest levels in more than a decade.

* And high tech companies are demanding more H-1B visas for
high-skill workers. Bill Gates is testifying on Capitol Hill
today on the need to raise the current cap of 65,000 and bring
in more foreign workers. Critics of the H-1B program say the
most recent jobs report as an indication that we don't need to
be giving away increasingly scarce American jobs.
