Lou Dobbs Tonight
Wednesday, March 14, 2007

Lou’s out with an insightful new commentary today about how
President Bush can learn a thing or two from Mexican President
Felipe Calderon. The president returns today from his six-day
tour of South America, Central America, and Mexico where he
stopped to talk with newly elected president.

his Mexican counterpart.

On tonight’s program, we’ll have the latest reports from
Scranton, Pennsylvania on the court case involving Hazleton’s
law cracking down on illegal aliens in the town. Mayor Lou
Barletta took the stand today to defend the ordinance
prohibiting employers from hiring illegal aliens and barring
landlords from renting to illegal aliens.

We are drowning in debt to China. The 2006 current account
deficit with China and the rest of the world hit a new record
high. The Chinese Government holds enough U.S. and other
reserves now to purchase 5% of all the publicly traded
companies in the U.S. and that figure increases by 20 percent
each year, and the trade deficit with China last months was 70
percent higher than last year. But what, if anything, is this
Congress and this administration doing to impose a more mutual
and balanced trade with China?

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services say a fee hike is
needed on citizenship applications in order to close a budget
crunch and update antiquated computers. USCIS says it's
overwhelmed with its current workload and could be faced with a
massive increase in applications should Congress pass
legislation granting amnesty to the millions of illegal aliens
in the United States. We’ll have that report tonight.

And tonight we discuss the future of our role in Iraq as
Democrats push to withdraw combat troops by August 2008 at the
latest. Joining us this evening, three of the country's leading
experts on the region: Vali Nasr, professor at the Naval
Postgraduate School; Alireza Jafarzadeh, author, "The Iran
Threat," and retired Marine Colonel Thomas Hammes, who served
in Iraq.
