15 illegal immigrants arrested in Walker area

WALKER — Police and U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents arrested 15 illegal immigrants during October in Walker and surrounding areas, the Walker Police Department said Wednesday.

Officers and agents were able to find the immigrants through traffic stops, field interviews and confidential informants, police said.

The crackdown is part of an initiative through U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the largest investigative arm of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, to respond to the large number of illegal immigrants believed to have moved into the area since hurricanes Rita and Katrina last year, police said.

The majority of those arrested in the sweep were Mexican nationals but some were from other nations, including Honduras, Bolivia and El Salvador, police said.

Those arrested were in Border Patrol custody and were being processed for deportation to their home countries, police said.

Police and Customs officials urged the public to notify them about suspected illegal immigrants by calling the police at (225) 664-3125 or Immigration and Customs Enforcement at (225) 298-5501.

Only 15? I think they need to look a little harder!

A lot of law enforcement agencies are jumping on bandwagon, don't underestimate the impact these efforts have on the illegals.
I just returned from a driving trip thru N.C, S.C., GA., and FL. in St Pete the company I did work at got rid of hundreds of foreign nationals.
Mostly Vietnamise and Bosnian/Serb or Russians.
In Clearwater the influx of illegal invaders has started to reverse.
On Rt. 85 in North Carolina last Monday there was a Yellow sign warning
" CAUTION Traffic stoped ahead driver license check point" however the check point was at the bottom of the next exit ramp not on Rt 85. At the bottom of the exit on the grass was about 20 work trucks now empty of people. and a large group of lawmen. The impact on local contractors
and illegal aliens may be small in number but every small effort repeated and duplicated nation wide will work. Maybe there still asleep in Washington? but not in the small towns accross America.
