FRAMINGHAM -
A Framingham woman who authorities say doused her boyfriend with rubbing alcohol on Thursday and set him on fire was ordered held without bail after her Framingham District Court arraignment today.
Rosilandy F. DeSouza, 35, of 6 Waverley Lane, is charged with armed assault with the intent to murder and mayhem after she set her boyfriend, Jose Dos Santos, on fire Thursday at 2:13 a.m., prosecutor Jennifer Snook said.
Dos Santos is in serious condition at the UMass-Memorial Medical Center in Worcester with second- and third-degree burns to his face, nose, ears, chest, arms and hands, according to Framingham Police Lt. Paul Shastany. The flames also damaged his vocal cords.
DeSouza's brother, Caciano Neto, 41, of 165 Dicenzo Blvd., Marlborough, is charged with intimidation of a witness. Neto is accused of calling a potential witness, one of Dos Santos' brothers, and threatening to have his family hurt in Brazil. Neto is a former police detective in Brazil, authorities said.
DeSouza will be held without bail pending a hearing to determine if she is a danger to the public, to be held on Thursday. Neto has not been arraigned yet.
The federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency has filed a detainer against DeSouza because she is an illegal immigrant from Brazil, according to court records.
