A recent immigration proposal (House Docket # 5043) offered by State Representative Daniel Webster has gained the support of lawmakers across the state. Webster’s legislation would implement penalties ranging from 2 1/2-5 years in prison and fines as high as $10,000 for employers who knowingly hire illegal immigrants.
“It’s encouraging to see my colleagues offer bipartisan support for an important proposal such as this. The writing is on the wall … there must be a more thorough process in Massachusetts when it comes to illegal immigration. By penalizing employers who knowingly hire undocumented aliens, we remove the incentives for those looking to enter our state illegally.
