Well! Now I feel kind of bad. I call Dick Durbin all the time and he has never invited me for coffee! (sniff)

Legislation enabling undocumented children to apply for college and financial aid will benefit our nation. Current law deprives us of future leaders, increased tax revenues, economic growth, and social vibrancy. We suffer because vulnerable children who might have become scientists, nurses, teachers, or engineers are forced, instead, to settle for the more limited employment options available to those without a college degree. Worse, guidance counselors report that many promising students drop out of school once they realize that, as a practical matter, they will be unable to go to college.
Durbin is as full of it as a Christmas turkey. Notice how they always pull out the 'we might be depriving the country of a future doctor/engineer/rocket scientist, etc. if we deport these promising young students' line? The kids are also taught at an early age that whenever some reporter type person asks them what they want to be when they grow up, they are supposed to say "nuclear physicist" or something like that. If they said , "I want to work in Pedro's Kustom Kar Shop" you could at least give them points for honesty. The hispanic population has a sky high dropout rate and when the hispanic elem. students took one of these progress tests in Chicago, the only group that scored lower was the special ed students. Yessir, the illegal hispanic community clearly places great value on education-NOT. What a waste of our tax dollars!
