RUTHERFORD COUNTY, Tenn. – Police arrested a man who they said burglarized an 88-year-old woman's home in Rutherford County.

Miguel Angle Garcia-Gomez, 40 was charged with aggravated burglary, theft and possession of burglary tools. Police said he is a homeless illegal immigrant.

Police said the homeowner on Burnt Knob Road woke up when she heard shattering glass, and went outside to call 911.

Garcia-Gomez was arrested just a few minutes later by a Rutherford County Sheriff's corporal who saw him loading the woman's property in the vehicle.

He had noticed a ladder and asked the man what he was doing. The man was allegedly nervous when he replied.

Authorities found a television placed near the back door.

Items belonging to the victim were found inside the suspect's vehicle and returned to her. Deputies also found a pry bar and a black mask.

Foote arrested the man identified as Garcia-Gomez and took him to the Rutherford County Sheriff's office where the corporal and Detective Steve Brown interviewed him.

Police said he had committed the crime because of a back injury that prevented him from working.

He was booked into the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center. A hearing is set for November 17 in General Sessions Court.
