Man gets 55 years in US border agent killing

SAN DIEGO — A 45-year-old Mexican national has been sentenced to 55 years in prison for his role in the shooting death of a U.S. Border Patrol agent who was lured into a trap to steal his night-vision goggles.
Federal prosecutors say Jose Ramirez Dorantes received the sentence Thursday in federal court in San Diego after reaching a plea deal. He's the third of five defendants in the case to be sentenced.
Rodriguez-Perez pleaded guilty to conspiracy to rob an officer and aiding and abetting a violent crime while carrying a firearm.
He was one of two people who stood watch from Mexico while two other men entered the U.S. through a border fence hole to rob Agent Robert Rosas of his night-vision goggles.
When Rosas resisted, he was shot and killed.

If he was on the Mexico side of the border when he committed his crime, how is he tried, convicted, and imprisoned in the U.S.? I'm missing something here.
Of course, nothing else the U.S. government says or does these days makes sense, so why would I expect this to be any different.Last edited by MinutemanCDC_SC; 12-20-2013 at 05:51 AM.
One man's terrorist is another man's undocumented worker.
Unless we enforce laws against illegal aliens today,
tomorrow WE may wake up as illegals.
The last word: illegal aliens are ILLEGAL!
