    Man held in sexual assault
Lochbuie police say he claimed to be pastor, kept 20-year-old for 10 days

Jesus Alonso Ochoa-Gomez is being held on charges of kidnapping and sexual assault. (Special to the Post)

For 10 days, Jesus Alonso Ochoa-Gomez sexually assaulted a 20-year-old man, holding him hostage until the victim escaped to Aurora, Lochbuie police said Friday.

Ochoa-Gomez, 35, represented himself as a pastor at Al Shadai Church in Aurora, police said. It was through a member of the church that the victim was referred to Ochoa-Gomez, who supposedly operated "safe houses" for people dealing with drug addiction and homelessness, police added.

The member could not be reached for comment.

In early May, Ochoa-Gomez, now in custody in Weld County, moved into a house at 209 Wenatchee St. in Lochbuie. While his wife was away in Mexico, police said he assaulted the victim, who was much smaller than Ochoa-Gomez, an illegal immigrant.

"It started with pornography and fondling, and progressed to penetration," Sgt. Dan Boyle said.

The young man, a Mexican immigrant with a temporary visa, escaped after the first assault, but Ochoa-Gomez found him at a park and convinced him to go to church with him to pray, police said. Afterward, he assaulted him again, police said.

Boyle said when the victim tried to leave the next time, Ochoa-Gomez said, "Where are you going? We're not finished yet." Boyle said Ochoa-Gomez then grabbed the victim's arm "and pushed him back in the bedroom."

The victim allegedly was locked in the bedroom for hours at a time. He would say no to Ochoa-Gomez's advances but was afraid to resist physically, fearing it would worsen his situation, police said.

Neighbors said they had not met Ochoa-Gomez but were upset that he would represent himself as a pastor.

When the victim approached Pastor Jorge Arevalo of Al Shadai Church on June 4, Arevalo went to police, who arrested Ochoa-Gomez the next day.

Arevalo said he knew only that Ochoa-Gomez had come to his church asking for money. The victim and Ochoa-Gomez were not members of the congregation, Arevalo said.

Ochoa-Gomez is being held on charges of kidnapping and sexual assault. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials have have put a hold on his release.

    Who is in control?

Another of the many terrorists, MS-13 gang members, criminals, drug dealers and sex offenders that this wonderful waste of space in the Oval Office has put out the welcome mat for with his refusal to secure the borders and control immigration. I also heard that a terrorist living in New Zealand was deported for his ties to Al-Qaeda and his prior relationship to one of the 9-11 hijackers who was his roommate. He lived in Arizona then fled to NZ where he enrolled in additional flight training. With this wonderful president's open border policy I am willing to bet he will be back in the US by the end of next week if not sooner. Bush most definitely has to be impeached before god forbid another 9-11 or worse occurs in which case he will be held personally responsibile for out right negligence and irresponsibility by 280 million Americans.

Man who ran safe house accused of sexual assault
By Julie Poppen, Rocky Mountain News
    June 10, 2006

A 35-year-old illegal immigrant, who ran a safe house for people in need through his church, is accused of keeping a 20-year-old man against his will in a Lochbuie trailer and sexually assaulting him over 10 days.

Police arrested Jesus Alonso Ochoa-Gomez on Monday in front of his wife, who is six months pregnant, at a mobile home at 209 Wenatchee St. He faces charges of sexual assault and second-degree kidnapping.

Lochbuie police Sgt. Dan Boyle said that Ochoa-Gomez met his victim in Aurora, where he rented a home described as a safe house. Boyle said at any given time, there were 15 to 20 people who were homeless or struggling with alcohol or drug problems living in the home at 912 Havana St.

A Denver church even gave out Ochoa-Gomez's name to people in need, Boyle said.

Ochoa-Gomez and his wife moved to Lochbuie last month. The alleged victim, who is here on a work visa, and two other families moved with him, according to an arrest warrant affidavit.

The first alleged assault was May 10, when Ochoa-Gomez's wife left for a trip to Mexico, Boyle said. The alleged victim managed to escape to a park, but Ochoa-Gomez tracked him down and coerced him to get into his gray Ford Aerostar van, police said. Ochoa-Gomez then drove the man to a church, where the two prayed before returning to the trailer.

The final alleged assault occurred May 20. On certain occasions, doors were locked, so the man could not escape the bedroom, police said.

"He was afraid things would get worse if he didn't comply," Boyle said.

Ochoa-Gomez described himself as a pastor at a Brighton church, but police said he is not an ordained minister at any church.

Ochoa-Gomez is being held in lieu of a $25,000 bond in the Weld County Jail. Formal charges have not been filed, according to the Weld County District Attorney's office.

Ochoa-Gomez has a lengthy arrest record dating back to 1991 for various offenses, including shoplifting, traffic offenses, driving under the influence, fraud, larceny, trespass, disturbing the peace and assault, according to the Colorado Bureau of Investigation.
