A Mexican national wanted in connection to a slaying of a man on the city's southside last summer was arrested at the U.S.-Mexico border Wednesday, authorities said.

Alejandro Talamantes-Osorio, 28, of Nogales, Sonora was stopped for questioning by federal agents when he crossed through the pedestrian gate at the Dennis DeConcini port of entry, said Juan Osorio, a U.S. Customs and Border Protection spokesman.

During a records check, Talamantes-Osorio told officers he was wanted on an outstanding arrest warrant for a homicide in Tucson, Osorio said.

He was turned over to homicide detectives of the Tucson Police Department Thursday, and booked into the Pima County jail as Alejandro Talamantes, said Sgt. Chris Widmer, a department spokesman.

An arrest warrant was issued for Talamantes for the June 12 shooting death of Ramon Bracamonte, 23. Talamantes faces first-degree murder and aggravated assault.

Bracamonte was shot at Las Montañas Apartments at 6200 S. Campbell Ave.
