ESCOBARES -- U.S. Border Patrol agents discovered 160 pounds of marijuana and 10 undocumented immigrants in the bed of a pickup truck near Rio Grande City on Thursday.

Agents witnessed several people pile into a truck near the Rio Grande during their patrol, according to a news release.

When asked to identify themselves, the driver and three individuals fled but left behind the drugs and 10 immigrants.

Border Patrol processed the immigrants and turned over the marijuana — with an estimated value of $133,000 — to the Drug Enforcement Administration.
