Massachusetts social workers interview detainees in Texas

HARLINGEN, Texas Massachusetts social workers flew to detention centers in Texas today to interview factory workers who may have been separated from their families during a federal immigration raid last week.

The roundup of 361 workers at Michael Bianco Incorporated, a factory in New Bedford, drew criticism because children were left behind at schools and day-care centers after parents were detained.

A spokeswoman for the Massachusetts Department of Social Services said the goal of today's visits to Bayview and the El Paso area was to interview detainees to see if a case could be made to have them returned to their families.

Some of the workers are still being held in facilities in the Massachusetts area. At least 60 of the immigrants were released earlier in the week for humanitarian reasons, mostly involving child care issues.

They should check and see how many are also collecting welfare, food stamps seciton 8 housing and winter fuel assistance. No way they made it in Mass with the high cost of living on the low wages from the work they were doing.
Government Contracts help keep Americans working, that's why there awarded to American based companies. This did not happen without
a nod, a wink and maybe a political donation.

maybe Ted Kennedy will welcome them back with a parade in Southie on March 17th
