Every time they do a sweep and get some of them at their workplace, they should follow it up a week or two later with an investigation of that workplace...check ID's of the workers. And then, come back in another two or three weeks. You'll have proof that the employers don't care who they're hiring if you keep getting illegals each time.

Also, I'm sorry, but you don't need 200 or 300 agents when doing raids...even for large facilities. With the help of local police and maybe a dozen or two ICE agents, you should have the manpower you need. If they spread the agents out a bit more, they could hit more worksites.

And we should also tax highly the remittances that are sent to Mexico. This would be a small downpayment on the tremendous costs that American taxpayers pay for illegal immigration.

ICE should focus on deporting the hundreds of thousands of dangerous illegals first; attrition through enforcement can alleviate the rest of the problem over time.

Whatever ICE can do to get these people out of the country is a good thing. I worry, though, that it's just a show while this government finagles another way to push an amnesty bill in our face.

The arrests break up families and create an unfair and inaccurate impression of the immigrant community, which is by and large law-abiding, said Reshma Shamasunder, director of the California Immigrant Policy Center. Enforcement actions also cause fear in immigrant neighborhoods and families that may include U.S. citizens.
Shamasunder, any illegal alien in the "immigrant community, which is by and large law-abiding" already BROKE THE LAW COMING HERE ILLEGALLY! We have laws in America and these laws must be ENFORCED whether or not it can "cause fear". Illegal aliens KNOW that they are taking a chance on whether or not they expose their families to law enforcement agents. If they don't want their families split up, then they should LEAVE AND TAKE THEIR FAMILY MEMBERS WITH THEM.

I agree. This, combined with the Senate suddenly voting 95-1 to appropriate up to $3 billion for border security makes me wonder if they are trying to grease the runway for another amnesty attempt (e.g., AgJobs, Dream Act, Specter's scheme). Our answer must still be NO AMNESTY IN ANY FORM; THE BORDER IS STILL WIDELY OPEN. And we'll see if these raids go on for a sustained period (doubtful once the ethnic advocacy groups get involved), and we'll see if the money is actually ever spent on border security. Any success must be measured on RESULTS over time and not just on headlines or on money appropriated.

When a person with a family is put in jail for burglary, bank robbery, murder, etc. it might break up their family too. That's part of the punishment for BREAKING THE LAW!!!
