MCSO arrests 10 for alleged human smuggling

Maricopa County, Ariz. -
Maricopa County Sheriff's Office Human Smuggling Unit took 10 Mexican Nationals into custody for alleged human smuggling on Friday.

Deputies say the unit found seven adults and three children, ages 8, 11 and 16, in a vehicle in northern Maricopa County.

All 10 people were on their way to either New York or Georgia and paid up to $4,000 to be illegally smuggled into the US.

Six adults were booked into jail and one adult and the three children were turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents.

HSU detectives say the 11-year-old child was unaccompanied and not related to the other adults.
