MCSO raids Phoenix drophouse

Maricopa County Sheriff's deputies raided a Phoenix drophouse Saturday afternoon, taking into custody 10 illegal immigrants, including the coyote.

Sheriff's officials executed a search warrant at an apartment near 51st Avenue and Indian School Road around 4 p.m., said Deputy Lindsey Smith, a Sheriff's spokeswoman.

The tip came through the Sheriff's illegal immigration hotline.

On Saturday, deputies made a traffic stop on a vehicle with three occupants leaving the drop house.

One suspect was positively identified as a coyote and previous suspect that fled on foot from deputies, Smith said.

Afterwards, deputies entered the apartment and found seven additional illegal immigrants.

All 10 adults were taken into custody, Smith said. Federal and state charges are pending, she said.
