3 die, 1 hurt in suspected gang shooting

ADELPHI, Md. - Three young men were killed and a fourth wounded in what police suspect was an attack by a notorious street gang.

Police were searching for five or six assailants that witnesses said shouted "Mara Salvatrucha" before opening fire Friday inside an apartment building in Prince George's County in suburban Washington. The Spanish words are the formal name of the Salvadoran street gang also known as MS-13, which traces its origins to Los Angeles in the 1980s.

The Washington Post reported Sunday that investigators believe the gang, which has been building influence in northern Virginia and Prince George's County, is responsible for the attack.

Police said there is no immediate indication that the victims were affiliated with gangs.

The victims were ages 19, 20 and 29. Two were from Montgomery County, Md., and a third was from Virginia.

The survivor, a 21-year old Prince George's County man, is recovering at a area hospital.

    Street Gangs Hit ‘Burbs
posted by Editor at 9:40 am ET

Street gangs are migrating to the suburbs and officials express concern over their growing presence. Why would gangs come here to the suburbs and who exactly are they getting involved?

In Maryland, six teenagers were stabbed in Montgomery Country in attacks at a high school and at a shopping mall. The incident left five of the victims severely wounded.

Police officials say that the attacks all involved the same youths from the same groups. They were all done within a three to four hour time block but police cannot yet confirm that the attacks were definitely connected.

So who are these gang members and how can we keep them away from our children?

Gang investigators rely on the word-of-mouth assistance from counterparts in other jurisdictions that have tips on the gangs. Those tips are proving to not be so helpful because of the Latino gangs expanding their presence in the areas.

Authorities said last year that they believed the West Coast gangs had been imploring their East coast offshoots to delve deeper into more established, profit making crimes, such as drug dealing.

Why are the local kids getting involved? What we found out will blow your mind. It’s an At Large exclusive investigation.

    What they understand

The only thing these gangs understand is violence! They have no morals, ethics and certainly no heart!

They are terrorist and our government is doing NOTHING about it! They would rather go after law abiding citizens!

The gangs are no threat to the politicians! They could care less about the American citizens and what happens to them!

Have they not made this clear?
Resistance to tyrants is obedience to God
