Md. Delegate To Propose Immigration Bill
    Andrea Fujii

    ANNAPOLIS, Md. (WJZ) ―

Del. Pat McDonough is proposing an immigration law for Maryland.

Andrea Fujii reports now a similar law could be coming to Maryland.

Protesters are outraged over Arizona's new immigration law. Led by Governor Jan Brewer, Arizona has made it a state crime to be in the U.S. illegally. That puts law enforcement in state hands, in addition to the federal government's.

"What they're giving is the tools to the law enforcement officers of Arizona, the same tools we have given to the border agents," said Bay Buchanan, Republican strategist.

The new law allows police to ask anyone for proof of their legal status, if police have reasonable suspicion they are here illegally.

Critics say the law is discriminatory and encourages racial profiling.

Maryland Del. Pat McDonough doesn't agree and is proposing a similar law for Maryland.

"The American people, from 65 to 70 percent, don't want illegals here, are tired of paying the money, and are concerned about the jobs that are being lost," said Del. Pat McDonough, (R) Baltimore and Harford Counties.

The Baltimore ACLU considers the Arizona law a disgrace, and believes it will be overturned in federal court.

"None of the bill's sponsors in Arizona, or here, or any of the other states, have explained really -- just looking at somebody -- whether they're documented or undocumented," said Ajmel Quereshi, ACLU attorney.

If the bill passes, it's unlikely Governor Martin O'Malley will sign it.

"The immigration law in Arizona is one example of how chaotic things can get when the federal law does not address it," said O'Malley.

McDonough plans to introduce the bill at a radio station Friday. He also plans to send a survey to all candidates for office in Maryland asking for their position.

He has also invited the bill's sponsor to visit Maryland in the near feature.

U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder says he thinks the Arizona law is subject to abuse, and is in the midst of reviewing it.

Our Governor will never allow it to happen. O'Malley only gets votes from illegal aliens. He'll do whatever he can to make them happy. Casa de Maryland controls everything that O'Malley does or says. Maryland is a sanctuary state, and this will never end until we get him out of office this November. However, the difficulty there lies in the fact that Casa de Maryland also swarms the polling booths with their illegal alien workers. Casa is already advertising they will help non-English speaking Latinos (er, um, illegal aliens) register to vote. So while your polling booths are filled with legal, taxpaying citizens, this is what the polling booths in Maryland look like:

    What a shame.
Calling an illegal alien an "undocumented worker" is like calling a drug dealer an "unlicensed pharmacist"........
