Mexican to be deported after time in prison

Man to be deported after time in prison

A Hutchinson man will be deported back to Mexico after he serves four years in prison for aggravated indecent liberties with a child.

An interpreter stood by the father of the 8-year-old girl who was allegedly fondled by Juan Anguiano, 30, and told him to tell Reno County District Judge Tim Chambers to “throw him back to Mexico.”

Chambers sentenced Anguiano on Friday to four years, three months in prison.

Reno County District Attorney Keith Schroeder said the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has a deportation hold on Anguiano and he will be transported once his sentence is completed. Anguiano also told Chambers he wants to be sent back to Mexico.

The case was scheduled to go to trial this month after a judge found probable cause to bind him over in a January preliminary hearing. The grandmother of the 8-year-old testified at that time that on Sept. 6, 2014, at about 11:15 p.m., the fiancée said she woke up from her sleep to use the bathroom when she saw Anguiano acting in a lewd manner on top of the 8-year-old on the couch in the living room.

She said she screamed loudly and Anguiano jumped onto another couch and acted as if nothing had happened. When she said she was about to call police, Anguiano became outraged, grabbed his clothes and ran out of the house.

However, Anguiano pleaded no contest to the charge on April 10. Schroeder said in court that the plea agreement was based on new circumstances that were discovered, such as the credibility of the grandmother.

Schroeder explained that he decided to negotiate a plea rather than risk Anguiano stepping foot back into the community. He also said the grandmother’s lack of credibility would have had a negative impact during the trial.

I expect that he may get acquainted with "being raped." Judge did the right thing.
