Mexican Cheese Contaminated With E. Coli

    http://cbs4.com/topstories/local_story_117222800.html

Check Your Refrigerator For Tainted Cheese
(CBS4) TALLAHASSEE The Florida Department of Agriculture wants you to check your refrigerator if you recently bought cheese, because it may be contaminated with E coli bacteria.

It reported that the potential for contamination was determined after random testing done by them and by the Department of Consumer Services revealed the presence of the bacteria in two cheeses made by the same company.

The two labels being recalled are:
-Ole Mexico Foods’ Verole Queso Fresco Authentic Mexican Crumbling Cheese
-Ole Mexico Foods’ Fresco Authentic Mexican Crumbling Cheese

Efforts are now underway to take these products off grocery store shelves.

Consumers who have purchased these products are urged to return them to the place of purchase.

No illnesses have been reported in association with the contamination thus far.

Have seen this cheese, but NEVER considered buying it!! No, we buy only Tillamook cheese (dairy cows raised on the moist green Oregon coast, with the cheese made right there, best you can get)..

So now they are "tainting" themselves with their lousy hygiene, eh?

I LOVE Mexican food... but have stopped eating it as of late
Just because you're used to something doesn't make it right.

It seems where ever there is Mexican's there is E-coli. Maybe they are immune to it.

I lived in Eugene, OR, for 5 years and I loved that Tillamook cheese I ate it all time it's the best. I can't get it here in New Hampshire.

Americanpatriot, the libs and anarchists in Oregon now will not buy Tillamook as apparently it is not a socially concious enough product for them. They leave it to all of us "suburban-ites" (funny, I live in the suburbs, but I am far from being one, no mini van or SUV, no kids in soccer, no once a month hairdressers appointment, heck, not even a house!).

I bet if you go to their website, you can find out who to order through: http://tillamookcheese.com/wheretobuy/default.aspx

Ever have a chance to come back to Oregon for a visit, take a tour of their factory. It is also REALLY pretty on the Oregon Coast too. Did you ever go to Mt. Hood National Forest while here Americanpatriot?

    Hi AmericanElizabeth,

I move from Eugene to a small little town, Venita, OR, just west of Eugene, on 40 acres next to Pacific Paper. I spent alot of time hiking all over the Great state of Oregon. I loved going to Florence on the coast. What a beautiful place. I never made it to Mt Hood, but I did make to Crater Lake that was beyond beautiful. I saw bald eagles and old growth forests. The people in Oregon, I will never forget, they were family.

I left in 1981. I was there to witness when St Helens blew. I miss it there .

How can anyone boycott Tillimook cheese. I wish I could get it here.

    Thank you...friend

I've been through the tillamook cheese factory( its what I buy to), its pretty cool took the kids there when they were in high school. I use to live in Lyons Oregon right on highway 22 out of salem going towards sisters, we had 10 acres and lived right where the Santiam and north fork rivers come together, what a beautiful place and caught alot of big Salmon and steel head out of those rivers. But its beautiful here to and doesn't rain as much.

When I lived in Portland in the late 70's we used to make trips to the coast to go mushroom hunting. Those pastures were like the Mother Lode!

    Ah, to be young again...

I think they are used to it, it is just part of their lives. On Lou Dobbs they were saying that the 300 million chinese get food poisoning year and it is no big deal. It seems some countries just accept it, instead of cleaning up the problem and now they are exporting it to us. Well, I can tell you right now I am not going to GET USED TO IT!
