Mexican deported 3 times gets prison for re-entry.

HARTFORD, Conn. —

A Mexican man who has been deported from the United States three times is facing a prison sentence for re-entering the country a fourth time.

A federal judge in Hartford sentenced Adalberto Arteaga Rodriguez on Monday to three and a half years in prison. Prosecutors say he pleaded guilty in 2010 to immigration-related charges.

Authorities say the 35-year-old immigrant was arrested by New Haven police in May 2009 after he was found in a vehicle with a .22 caliber rifle on his lap. A weapons charge in New Haven Superior Court led to a three-year prison sentence.

He had been deported previously in 2001, 2002 and 2007. The first two deportations resulted from a 1988 conviction for first-degree unlawful restraint and fourth-degree sexual assault.
