Kelis gets in legal dispute with undocumented housekeeper

Hip-hop singer Kelis has found herself embroiled in a legal dispute with her housekeeper who says that Kelis owes her $900 in unpaid fees. However, her housekeeper is apprehensive because of her apparent legal status in the United States.

The maid reportedly made $150 a day and worked one day a week. She is saying that Kelis fell behind on her payments by six weeks. The house keeper is allegedly pursuing her legal options and will attempt to file a claim with the California Labor Commission, reports TMZ.

That's what these people get for hiring these illegals in the first place. and at 150.00 a day, this is not someone who was working for little or no pay. these people are just getting what they deserve

Deport her unpaid. When it's illegal to work in the US, it's illegal to get paid for work in the US. It's why hit men can't sue for their payments. It's why drug dealers can't sue for territory. It's why bank robbers can't keep the money.

They should deport the illegal and file charges against Kelis for hiring an illegal so she won't do it again.

This makes perfect sense to me. After all, under common law a contract made in violation of the law cannot be enforced. The only reason IAs end up with these rights is by statute. Perhaps the statutes regarding employment law and liability should specify that the employee is legally employed.
