Mexican meth dealer gets 10 years

LINCOLN (AP) -- A Mexican man will spend more than 10 years in federal prison for selling methamphetamine in Nebraska before being deported.

U.S. District Judge Richard Kopf sentenced 34-year-old Naptaly Mendoza Morales on Tuesday in Lincoln. He pleaded guilty in September.

U.S. Attorney Deborah Gilg's office in Omaha says Mendoza Morales was responsible for distributing more than 500 grams of methamphetamine in central and eastern Nebraska between 2007 and his arrest in February 2010.

Mendoza Morales will begin serving his federal drug sentence after he completes a state prison sentence for assault. He is expected to be released from state prison next March.

Once Mendoza Morales completes both his state and federal prison sentences, he will be deported to Mexico because he is a Mexican citizen.
