Mexican national rescued from Rio Grande by BP marine unit

Border Patrol agents rescued this individual who attempted to flee and swim back to Mexico.










A Border Patrol marine unit said it rescued a Mexican citizen from drowning in the Rio Grande near Laredo.

On Wednesday, Border Patrol agents assigned to the unit assisted agents who had apprehended a group of undocumented immigrants near a ranch close to the river.


One of the individuals attempted to flee and swim back to Mexico. He began to struggle to remain above water. Agents immediately rescued him and brought him aboard the vessel. Medical attention was offered, but the Mexican national declined.
