Michigan Bill Requires Police and State Agencies to Check Immigration Status

Michigan has become one of the latest states to debate whether to require law enforcement officers to check the immigration status of people they approach for an offense and whom they suspect may be here illegally.

A proposed bill in the House known as No. 4305 also would require government agencies to verify the immigration status of people older than 18 years of age who apply for federal, state or local public benefits.

As in many of the roughly 20 other states considering bills that target illegal immigration, the Michigan bill has drawn criticism by immigrant rights groups and religious leaders who say it would create a climate of fear and division.

An editorial in the Midland Daily News said “the bill fails the stink test.â€

All states need to have this law enacted. We also need the courts to be ready for the flood of illegals. Deport them quicker.

Yes BC, and it would make sense to hire unemployed Americans to work at processing facilities continually and promptly deporting all foreigners. Fancy processing offices not needed, therefore the cost of a deportation system would be at a minumum to avoid the old excuse of "it would be too costly to enforce illegal immigration laws" Heck! at this point, Americans would do the work for minumum wage just to get rid of them! And the savings once illegals are gone and not leaching off out country would save more money than what a deportation system would cost!
