The studies as well as the salaries of tech workers do not support there being a shortage of tech workers and engineers. Salaries have declined for engineers by 12% in the past 5 years. Multiple studies have shown that we have sufficient numbers of students graduating with the skills needed by the IT industry. It's just that Bill Gates wants cheap labor and he is threatening Congress to take jobs overseas if they don't give him his H1B increase. Gates is a major globalist with no allegiance to the country that allowed him to prosper and become the billionaire that he is. I say let him take his marbles and go elsewhere.

Kate, not only that, I know there are many former IT professionals who are out of work simply because illegals and immigrants are working for much less.
Just one more fine example of corporate greed, alive and well.

I wonder if Bill Gates is aware that there are thousands of IT specialists and other technicians who are out of work as a result of too many H1b visas? Maybe he really doesnt know that H1b visa applicants are replacing Americans who train them.

    firecracker:

Hey - I've kind of wondered that to myself. I
Is it: lack of awareness, just doesn't care, or plain maliciousness.

Based on his past 'slash-and-burn' corporate behavior, I'd say it's part doesn't care with maliciousness.

Remember about 4-5 years ago, when the DoJ (and members of the EU, for that matter) were looking into the possibility of a forced split up of M$?
He went public with a threat to move M$ into British Columbia if things progressed too far...

    He is pure globalist thru-and-thru.

Oh, he knows it all right.

He also knows that H1b visa holders work for a lot less than their American counterparts do, and are a lot easier to get rid of once he's used them up.

As a bonus, there's no training expense for him, since he can simply replace his workers at will with new ones with the currently required skill set. Plus, he doesn't have to see any old people hanging around, since they were all replaced once they hit 40.
