Minutewoman Pulido calls McCain a fake.

Republican John McCain assured Hispanic leaders that if he became president he will pressure Congress to approve an initiative to modify the federal laws of immigration, indicated on Thursday some people that attended the private encounter.

Democrats asked why the senator from Arizona maintained the meeting on Wednesday night in Chicago. Nevertheless, his supporters that were in the meeting denied that McCain had maintained a closed-door session out of fear of offending conservatives, many of which want him to adopt a harder position on immigration.

"It was not a secret encounter", indicated Rafael Rivadeneyra, vice president of the Hispanic National Republican Assembly of Illinois, one of more than 150 Hispanic leaders in the Chicago area that attended the meeting with McCain.

"There was nothing said that he didn't want people to listen to", he added.

Nevertheless, others who assisted to the encounter were not so sure of that.

"He is one John McCain before White republicans, but a different John McCain before Hispanics", complained Rosanna Pulido, a conservative and latin american Republican that attended the encounter.

Pulido, who heads theMinuteman Project in Illinois, which pressures for the adoption of the strictest immigration measures, indicated that she thinks that McCain was "consenting to the masses" upon emphasizing the issue of immigration reform in his 15 minute speech.

"He is having private encounters in order to win over Hispanics and tells them what they want to listen. I am indignant that he seeks to win me as aHispanic but not as a conservative", added Pulido.

    McCain meets with Hispanic leaders
By MICHAEL TARM – 3 hours ago

CHICAGO (AP) — Republican presidential John McCain assured Hispanic leaders he would push through Congress legislation to overhaul federal immigration laws if elected, several people who attended a private meeting with the candidate said Thursday.

Democrats questioned why the Arizona senator held the meeting late Wednesday night in Chicago. But supporters who were in the room denied that McCain held the closed-door session out of fear of offending conservatives, many of whom want him to take a harder line on immigration.

Both McCain and Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama support giving legal status to millions of illegal immigrants, but neither has made the issue a centerpiece of the campaign. At one time, McCain's campaign suffered because of his stance on the issue.

"This was not a secret meeting," said Rafael Rivadeneira, a vice chairman of the Republican National Hispanic Assembly of Illinois, who was among more than 150 Chicago-area Hispanic leaders who attended. "There was nothing he said that they wouldn't want people to hear."

Other attendees said they were not so sure.

"He's one John McCain in front of white Republicans. And he's a different John McCain in front of Hispanics," complained Rosanna Pulido, a Hispanic and conservative Republican who attended the meeting.

Pulido, who heads the Illinois Minuteman Project, which advocates for restrictive immigration laws, said she thought McCain was "pandering to the crowd" by emphasizing immigration reform in his 15-minute speech.

"He's having his private meetings to rally Hispanics and to tell them what they want to hear," she said. "I'm outraged that he would reach out to me as a Hispanic but not as a conservative."

After the event, McCain met privately with Martin Sandoval, an Illinois state senator and Democratic convention delegate for former candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton. Sandoval said he left open the possibility of backing McCain, citing his immigration stance and pledge to keep business taxes low.

And of course this article doesn't mention Rosanna's other affiliation!

Pulido isn't just the founder of the Illinois Minutemen (who, incidentally, travel to the U.S. Mexico border to keep a watch on people crossing into Arizona), but also the Illinois chapter leader for the organization "You Don't Speak for Me", a group of Latinos who have aligned themselves with the anti-immigrant movement.

We need to get the two major veterans organizations---American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars---to start confronting McCain (and Obama, too) ---on their tolerance for illegal immigration. Veterans like McCain should especially be incensed that illegal alien males enter this country and unaimously flaunt federal laws like Selective Service registration. How could either of these men aspire to be Commander-in-Chief and just let illegal invaders come in, take our goods, and have utterly no sense of responsibility to the US?

My fear with an Obama win is that so many other institutions of our society would be given a radical liberal (or ultraleftist) shift--and that this shift could become so entrenched that we would never get rid of it. If you think the court system is stacked against us now--with illegal alien invaders suing US citizens and institutions--- just wait for the aftermath of four years of Obama. If you think our educational system is everday undermining American values and changing innocent children into radicals----just wait for the aftermath of four years of Obama. If you think we are catering to too many foreign interests now---just wait for the aftermath of four years of Obama. Make no mistake, we are at one of the gravest crises of national security in our history---and we may just have to take the lesser of two evils. McCain at least has some political and social link with ordinary Americans and conservative groups. Obama is just unhinged and in bed with America haters of every stripe.
