The federal government on Friday began sending hundreds of unaccompanied children caught crossing the border illegally in Texas to a holding center in Nogales, Ariz., further straining relations with Gov. Jan Brewer, who was already angry over the recent release of hundreds of undocumented families at bus stations in Phoenix and Tucson.

The federal government on Friday began sending hundreds of unaccompanied children caught crossing the border illegally in Texas to a holding center in Nogales, Ariz..

Brewer said she learned Friday that 432 children were transported to a holding facility in Nogales and that an additional 732 children would be brought there today and Sunday.

"I am disturbed and outraged that President Obama's administration continues to implement this dangerous and inhumane policy," Brewer said in a written statement.

Unmarked buses arrived at the U.S. Customs and Border Protection's Nogales facility throughout Saturday morning with what appeared to be young people inside.

The agency would not allow members of the media inside the facility "due to privacy concerns," Victor Brabble, a Border Patrol spokesman.

Brewer's spokesman, Andrew Wilder, told the Associated Press that conditions at the holding facility in Nogales are so dire that the state is releasing federal medical and other supplies to the facility.
A regional director of the Federal Emergency Management Agency was also being sent to Arizona to help manage the crisis, Wilder told the AP.

The Border Patrol has been overwhelmed by a surge of undocumented immigrants crossing the border illegally in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas, including nearly 50,000 children traveling on their own, the AP reported.

The federal government plans to use the facility in Nogales as a way station, where the children will be vaccinated and checked medically.

They will then be flown to facilities being set up in Ventura, Calif., Fort Sill, Okla., and San Antonio, the AP said.

In her statement, Brewer demanded that President Barack Obama's administration immediately stop transferring migrants caught in Texas to Arizona.

The transfer of hundreds of unaccompanied children comes after the Department of Homeland Security began flying hundreds of undocumented families, mostly women and children, to Tucson over the Memorial Day weekend.

Homeland Security officials said the families were shipped here because the Border Patrol did not have the manpower or detention space to process a surge in undocumented immigrants from Central America apprehended in Texas.

After being processed by the Border Patrol in Tucson, Homeland Security began releasing the families on humanitarian parole and dropping them off at Greyhound bus stations in Phoenix and Tucson with instructions to report to an ICE office once they reached their destinations in other cities.

The practice drew criticism from human-rights groups concerned about the migrants' well-being. Dozens of volunteers began showing up at the bus stations to provide the families with water, food, medicine and other necessities after their release.

The release also prompted several Arizona Republicans, including Brewer and Sens. John McCain and Jeff Flake, to demand that Obama and Homeland Security explain why the migrants were being sent to Arizona and released.

Federal officials said Friday that no migrant families were scheduled to be flown to Arizona this weekend, but the transfers could resume in the future if the Border Patrol in Texas continues to be overwhelmed.

Homeland Security officials also said Friday that the Border Patrol's El Paso Sector is assisting with the processing of migrants apprehended in Texas and then turning them over to ICE to determine whether they will be held or released on a case-by-case basis.

In the past, undocumented immigrants from Central America have been held in detention facilities and then flown back to their countries. But the arrival of thousands of families and children traveling on their own created new challenges for Homeland Security because ICE has only one detention center for holding families, in Pennsylvania.

Homeland Security officials noted that the migrants being released will be kept under supervision and are still subject to deportation.

Brewer said Friday that she is still waiting for the Obama administration to explain why migrants are being sent to Arizona. She also blamed the federal government for creating the crisis by releasing migrants and not doing enough to secure the border.

"Not only does the federal government have no plan to stop this disgraceful policy, it also has no plan to deal with the endless waves of illegal aliens once they are released here," Brewer said in her statement.

    NO AMNESTY

Don't reward the criminal actions of millions of illegal aliens by giving them citizenship.

Let’s not be naïve. This travesty is a cold, cynical, calculated EXPLOITATION of children-- by their own parents, Latin American governments’ and the Obama junta. In word and deed Obama has made it obvious that he and his Marxists will sabotage all efforts to enforce immigration laws, especially when it involves minors and children. It was inevitable that word of this would spread rapidly throughout Latin America, and of course, Obama knows this. He gets to further his goal of artificially Latinizing the American population while claiming innocence about a cynical, unnatural, forced mass reconstruction of America’s population. This is being done for a political benefit that may include a cryptic appeal to ant-White racism.

Obama Admin to Dump over 1,000 Illegal Immigrants in AZ This Weekend

by Tony Lee 7 Jun 2014
    breitbart

On Friday, Arizona had to reopen a detention center to warehouse illegal immigrants from Central America that the federal government sent from Texas.

Arizona Governor Jan Brewer said more than 1,000 illegal immigrant children will be dropped off in Arizona this weekend, continuing what she said is the Obama administration's "dangerous policy" of dumping illegal immigrants from Central American countries into Arizona, something that will continue into the foreseeable future. Officials in Arizona said that though the illegal immigrants have been told to report to an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) center within 15 days, they have no idea where the illegal immigrants are going.

The Arizona Department of Emergency and Military Affairs told Brewer that 432 such children were expected to be transported on Friday and another 734 over the weekend.

Brewer said that she was “disturbed and outraged" that the Obama administration continues to implement this "dangerous and inhumane policy" while "neglecting to answer crucial questions our citizens demand and deserve." She noted, "Not only does the federal government have no plan to stop this disgraceful policy, it also has no plan to deal with the endless waves of illegal aliens once they are released here."

"If the Obama administration put half the effort into securing our border as it has invested to institute this operation, our state and nation would not be facing this situation," she said. "This is a crisis of the federal government’s creation, and the fact that the border remains unsecure – now apparently intentionally - while this operation continues full-steam ahead is deplorable."

Breitbart Texas first reported photos of illegal immigrants from Central America being warehoused in Texas, and Arizona may face a similar situation as officials scrambled to find medical supplies for the recently dumped illegal immigrants.

A holding center in Nogales had to be opened "because the Department of Health and Human Services had nowhere to turn," and a Department of Homeland Security official told the Associated Press "that children are sleeping on plastic cots but about 2,000 mattresses have been ordered, and portable toilets and showers have been brought to the holding center – a warehouse that has not been used for detention in years."

The warehouse reportedly has a capacity of about 1,500, and a Homeland Security official said, "As quickly as we move them out, we get more. We believe this is just a start."

Last week, Brewer wrote President Barack Obama a letter, slamming the federal government for not informing Arizona officials before they decided to send thousands of illegal immigrants into her state. She demanded answers about who was responsible for the decision.

"What I learned from federal officials today only raises more questions about this operation, and the few answers I did receive have only heightened my concerns," Brewer asserted. "Citizens demand – and so should the media – the reason for this massive influx of illegal crossings and the cost to taxpayers for having to deal with the crisis created by the President."

Brewer said she has reached out to Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson for answers and again called on President Obama to "terminate this operation immediately" and secure the border.
